Connecting people through stories
At Isolation Stories, we believe in the power of stories to bring people together, especially during this period of social distancing and isolation. There's nothing more comforting than the sound of a friendly, human voice reading a good story, whatever the time of day. We're working to connect those looking for some company in the form of a good book with those who love to read aloud and are happy to link up virtually with listeners.
WHO WE ARE
Isolation Stories is a non-profit, community-minded initiative. Our readers are volunteers who connect with listeners in isolation via virtual means, such as Zoom and FaceTime, as well as the more simple phone call...whatever is most convenient for the listener.
If you think that this is something that you (or someone you know) might enjoy, please fill in your contact details and we'll get back to you!
HOW IT WORKS
After you've filled in the contact form, one of our volunteers will then be in touch to set up a convenient time to read to you. You may wish to listen to a story via Zoom just once a week at lunchtime, or maybe you'd prefer a more regular bedtime story via phone call...let us know what works for you and we'll try our best to arrange it.
Feel free to include a bit of information about the kind of stories you like on our contact form - that way our readers can pick out the perfect book for you! Alternatively, let us know if you have a particular book in mind. Or maybe you have a favourite author?
If you'd like to volunteer as a reader we'd love to hear from you too!
“There is no friend as loyal as a book”
We look forward to hearing from you :)
